DEXTERA’s 30th anniversary: How did it all begin?
DEXTERA’s 30th anniversary: How did it all begin?
30 years of growth: an interview with Židrūnas Garšva, CEO of UAB DEXTERA.
DEXTERA’s story began in 1996, when the sun protection solutions market in Lithuania was still taking shape. At the time, we were among the first companies to start manufacturing aluminium venetian blinds. It was a bold yet carefully considered step: we recognised the need for high-quality, functional window covering solutions and believed that this market would grow rapidly in Lithuania. From the very beginning, we focused on quality, reliability and long-term value, which became a solid foundation for all our subsequent growth.
How has DEXTERA managed to remain successful and grow in such a competitive market for 30 years?
I believe the key factors have been consistency and the ability to adapt. The market has experienced several crises over the years, but we have never sacrificed quality for short-term gains. We have invested in technology, our team, our processes, and long-term relationships with customers and partners.
This is also reflected in the fact that 97% of our customers recommend us. Such trust can only be earned through responsible work and a long-term commitment.
DEXTERA is often described as a partner to architects and designers. Why do they choose to work with you?
We place great emphasis on working with architects and interior designers because we understand that window covering solutions are now an integral part of architecture and interior design. In addition to offering a wide range of products, we provide technical consultations and are flexible in adapting complex bespoke solutions and materials that combine aesthetics, functionality and sustainability.
Our goal is to help bring ideas to life, not simply to sell a product.
Which projects best demonstrate DEXTERA’s expertise?
Throughout its years of operation, DEXTERA has completed hundreds of major projects in Lithuania and abroad. The company’s sun protection solutions have been installed in buildings such as the 3 BURĖS business centre in Vilnius, PENTA, Flow, Hero, Jasinskio 2 and Technopolis, as well as the Aleksotas Innovation Centre in Kaunas, Santaros Children’s Hospital, Klaipėda State Musical Theatre, and facilities belonging to Continental, Girteka, LIMEDIKA, LIDL and other public and commercial organisations.
These projects demonstrate DEXTERA’s experience in delivering large-scale, architecturally complex projects that require a high level of technical expertise and close cooperation with architects and contractors—one of the company’s key strengths.
How important are sustainability and environmentally responsible solutions to DEXTERA?
Today, sustainability is not a choice—it is a necessity. That is why we actively implement environmentally responsible solutions: we use air-purifying fabrics whose effectiveness is supported by scientific research, incorporate recyclable materials and continuously seek ways to reduce our environmental impact.
We also work with international partners who adhere to the highest environmental standards. This is an investment not only in our business, but also in future generations.
How does DEXTERA envision its future after 30 years in business, and which priorities matter most today?
We see DEXTERA’s future as a natural continuation of the experience we have built over many years—grounded in hard work, the ability to respond quickly to changing market conditions and respect for our customers. This milestone is also an important recognition of our entire team—the people who have built, grown and strengthened DEXTERA at every stage. At the same time, this experience represents a clear commitment to the future.
As we celebrate our 30th anniversary, we are not simply reflecting on what we have achieved. We will continue to invest purposefully in sustainable solutions, our team, innovation, automation, new products and new markets.
In 2025, we expanded our infrastructure by acquiring more than 2,500 sq. m of additional production and warehousing space. We also significantly broadened our outdoor product range by introducing carports, BBQ pergolas and outdoor storage units. This expansion allows us to offer an even wider range of comprehensive solutions for both private homes and commercial properties, combining aesthetics with functionality.
What would you wish for yourself and the team in the decades ahead?
Our goal is to remain a leader in sun protection solutions for decades to come and to create solutions that will remain relevant not only today, but also 30 years from now. I wish our team courage and confidence—and if we ever need to take a step back, may it only be to gain momentum for even greater progress and growth.
