Research by “Coulisse” has shown that the audible noise is not caused by the motor alone: its vibrations are transmitted to the mounting components, roller tube and cassette, which can amplify them further. That is why the development of “Absolute Silence” focused on the entire roller blind system – both vibration reduction and movement control. The blind starts moving gently, gradually reaches the set speed and comes to an equally smooth stop. This helps to:
- reduce sudden mechanical noises and clicking sounds;
- reduce stress on mechanical components;
- ensure smoother and more consistent movement of the roller blind.
Sound level is only one aspect of quiet operation. High-frequency sounds are often perceived as sharper and more irritating, so the new generation of “MotionBlinds” motors has been designed to minimise these frequencies. For example, the CM-03 motor produces a lower-frequency, softer sound that is less noticeable in everyday environments.
The patented “Silent Bracket” features a layer of liquid silicone rubber that helps absorb motor vibrations, reducing their transmission to the roller blind cassette and preventing them from being amplified by resonance. In controlled tests, the complete system configured in this way operated up to 15 dB more quietly than a standard system.
Even small gaps between the motor components and the roller tube can cause humming or rattling during operation. Precisely fitted connecting components help secure the motor more firmly and reduce vibration at its source.
The roller blind speed can be adjusted from 10 to 28 rpm, with approximately 20 rpm considered the optimal setting for quiet operation. The “Soft Start / Soft Stop” function allows the blind to start moving gently and gradually come to a stop.
Automated routines can raise or lower the roller blinds early in the morning or in the evening without disturbing your rest.
Roller blinds that adjust automatically according to the time of day or sunlight intensity should not distract people while they work.
Automated control of curtains and roller blinds is becoming an increasingly common comfort feature, so quiet operation helps maintain a sense of calm.

Quiet operation tested in the dedicated “Coulisse Sound Lab”
During the development of “Absolute Silence”, a dedicated “Coulisse Sound Lab” acoustic laboratory was established in the Netherlands.
Electric roller blind systems are tested there under consistent, controlled conditions. An advanced acoustic camera equipped with 64 microphones is used not only to measure sound levels, but also to identify where sound originates within the system and how vibrations and sound travel through the structure.
This enabled engineers to evaluate the complete operating electric roller blind system rather than the motor alone, and to systematically address the main sources of noise.
Award-winning technology
The “Absolute Silence” innovation has also received international recognition.
At the R+T Asia Innovation Awards held in Shanghai in 2025, “Absolute Silence for MotionBlinds” received the highest “Best of the Best” distinction.
In 2026, the technology was also recognised at the WCMA Product Awards, where “Absolute Silence” won the “Best New Style Concept” award in the “Motorization & Automation” category.
